2019 Week 2 Predix

Photo by Gerald Herbert/AP Written by Sam DeCoste Boy, it felt good to welcome Scott Hanson and Andrew Siciliano back into our living rooms, to watch NFL Red Zone, to watch primetime football, and to see the NFL return. Now football season is in full swing, and there are some must-see games in Week 2. The week kicks off on Thursday night with an NFC South clash between the Bucs and Panthers, and ends on Monday in a blockbuster matchup between the Jets and the Browns. But of course, the week is highlighted by the NFC Championship rematch between the Saints and Rams in Los Angeles. Last week was my best ever opening week on the Predix, accurately predicting the result for 13 of the 16 games! Hopefully I can keep up my strong start to the season in this week's Predix. So without further ado, let's get into it! Here are my records over this season:  My record last week: 13-2-1 Regular season record:  13-2-1 Lock of the Week record:  1-0 TB @ CAR Carolina pu...

Andrew Luck: The Decision

Photo by AJ Mast/AP Written by Sam DeCoste Just seven months ago, the Colts were in Kansas City facing the Chiefs in a Divisional Playoff, having won ten of their last eleven games in a comeback tour to make it back to the Super Bowl. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck didn’t play like himself, and his performance left a lot to be desired against the top seeded Chiefs. Luck only completed nineteen of 36 passes for 203 yards and one touchdown pass, in a 31-13 loss for the Colts. While the result was disappointing, Indy was trending in the right direction going into Andrew Luck's eighth season in the NFL. With Luck back under center, the sky was the limit for the former number one overall pick out of Stanford, and he finally had a chance to contend for a championship. But nobody, not even Luck himself, would’ve thought that would’ve been his last rodeo. The Low Down On Saturday night, Adam Schefter reported that Andrew Luck intended to retire from the NFL just two weeks before the sta...

2019 NFL Season Preview - Playoff Predix

Photo by Patrick Semansky/AP Written by Sam DeCoste Blog season is back, baby! If you're new here, welcome to Franchise Quarterback! If you're a returning reader, you know I tell it like it is, and I like to be bold. Sometimes my boldness pays off, and sometimes it seems I've been drinking the Kool-Aid. Who can forget when I predicted the Washington Redskins would win the NFC East? Or picking the San Francisco 49ers as the number one seed in the NFC? Well, I also accurately predicted that Houston would win the AFC South after finishing bottom in 2017, and that the Minnesota Vikings would miss the playoffs entirely after making it to the NFC Championship, and both of those predictions turned out to be correct, so I'm not a total knucklehead. With the beginning of the 2019 NFL regular season rapidly approaching, it's time to repeat this very exercise I am looking back on from 2018, my Season Preview, projecting who will be going to the playoffs, and who will the...
