2021 Season Preview: The Last Dance For Aaron Rodgers?

Courtesy of Mark Konezny Football finally returns this week. With opening day just one sleep away, it's time I finally reveal my playoff picks for the 2021 NFL season. I will tell you who will be battling it out in the postseason come January, and who will collect the awards at the end of the season. I have spent all summer long crunching the numbers and calculating the 14 teams who you will see in the playoffs, all the way down to the 2 squads who will square off on Super Bowl Sunday. If you are new to Franchise Quarterback, welcome! If you are a returning reader, thank you for your continued support, and you know that I am not afraid to be bold in my preseason predictions. You will inevitably disagree with most of my rankings, probably because they are scarily accurate, and you are ill-prepared for my hard-hitting, objective analysis. Send any grievances to @thesamdecoste on Twitter. Praise is also welcome if you have any to spare. And if you send me harsh enough criticism, who k...

2020 NFL Season Preview: Playoff Predix

Courtesy of Adam Glanzman/Getty Images If you are new to Franchise Quarterback, welcome! If you are a returning reader, thank you for your continued support, and you know that I am not afraid to be bold in my preseason predictions.  With the 2020 season approaching, it is time for my annual preseason predictions, projecting who will get into the playoffs, and reach Super Bowl LV in Tampa. After weeks of calculating and crunching the numbers, I have determined who will earn the 14 playoff spots this season, and who will ultimately lift the Lombardi Trophy in February. It is a given that COVID-19 has clouded the buildup to the 2020 season and may throw uncertainty into football this year, I am writing in anticipation that the season will go forth as scheduled and in its entirety.  I will continue to write my Predix pages as long as football is played.  If you have strong feelings of disagreement and resentment towards me, let me know in the comments section below. My Twitte...

The NFL vs COVID-19: Everything You Need to Know About the 2020 Season

Courtesy of the NFL Football is on the horizon. Football like we have never seen before. The NFL's 101st season is scheduled to kick off on Thursday September 10, but it will not be the NFL that we know and love. The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown professional sports into limbo for months, including the 2020 NFL season.  Whereas the NBA and NHL have resumed their seasons in bubble formats placed in a concentrated area for the remainder of the playoffs, the NFL has opted not to play in a bubble. The league will play out its season across all 30 NFL venues in 22 states, with more than 5,000 players, coaches, and team personnel living from home. With the pandemic intensifying by the day, and a vaccine remaining unavailable, fans are wondering how the NFL can feasibly play the season during a public health crisis. Many are questioning the league's testing protocol, fan attendance policies, and the unknown challenges that could face the league once the season is in full swing. I have ...

2019 NFL Season Preview - Playoff Predix

Photo by Patrick Semansky/AP Written by Sam DeCoste Blog season is back, baby! If you're new here, welcome to Franchise Quarterback! If you're a returning reader, you know I tell it like it is, and I like to be bold. Sometimes my boldness pays off, and sometimes it seems I've been drinking the Kool-Aid. Who can forget when I predicted the Washington Redskins would win the NFC East? Or picking the San Francisco 49ers as the number one seed in the NFC? Well, I also accurately predicted that Houston would win the AFC South after finishing bottom in 2017, and that the Minnesota Vikings would miss the playoffs entirely after making it to the NFC Championship, and both of those predictions turned out to be correct, so I'm not a total knucklehead. With the beginning of the 2019 NFL regular season rapidly approaching, it's time to repeat this very exercise I am looking back on from 2018, my Season Preview, projecting who will be going to the playoffs, and who will the...
