2018 NFL Week 4 Predix

Written by Sam DeCoste What a busy week on the Franchise Quarterback blog. After a Week 3 full of upsets and drama, the NFL landscape seemed to slowly beginning to define itself, until Buffalo and Detroit threw in some large monkey wrenches into the operation. Picking games doesn't get any easier from here, especially with a slate of some great Week 4 games. It kicks off with a blockbuster night in Los Angeles, when the Vikings and the Rams matchup, and wraps up in Denver where Patrick Mahomes looks to continue his incredible start to the season. So without any delay, let's get right into it! Here are my season records:  Lock of the W eek record: 1-2 Last week's record: 9-7 Regular season record:  25-21-2      MIN @ LAR The only logical explanation for Minnesota's unpredictable implosion against Buffalo was they overlooked the Bills, and were looking towards this game. But after such a pathetic performance against the Bills, I cannot foresee

Week 4 Power Rankings: Upset City

Written by Ben Slavin Anyone with a survivor pool or even just doing game picks probably had a rough week. For some reason, it seems all the good teams decided collectively to just take week three off. The number 32, 30, and 28 teams in last week’s rankings all secured wins, with two of them earning shocking upsets. On the other end of the rankings, the opposite happened, as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teams all lost. So, yeah, finalizing standings was nearly impossible. Once again, now that we’re into the season, teams will move up or down a lot based on trades, injuries, or big wins or losses. Who the opponent was, how close of a game it was, and just in general how good the team looked will be considered more than just getting the victory. 32. Arizona Cardinals (0-3, Down 1) The Cardinals had by far their most competitive game of the season Sunday against the Bears. They jumped out to a 14 point lead with a turnover on defense and big plays on offense. After that, the Bears’ talent to

2018 NFL Week 3 Predix

Written by Sam DeCoste Just as we predicted, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Patrick Mahomes are the frontrunners to win MVP, the Steelers are winless, and the Browns should arguably be unbeaten through two weeks of play. Another NFL season, yet another season of wild surprises. This season is projecting to be just as unpredictable as ever, and I still haven't quite figured out how to pick games in 2018. Will this week be my week? Probably, unless two teams tie again this week.  Week 3 is here, and there are some exciting matchups coming up to look forward to. Two playoff teams from last square off in both Atlanta and Jacksonville, when the Saints take on the Saints, and the Titans visit Jacksonville to renew their respective divisional rivalries. The Los Angeles teams will battle for city bragging rights this week as well when the Chargers and Rams duel in the Coliseum. But the story of the week lies on Thursday night, when the Browns take on the Jets, with the chance to win their fir

Week 3 Power Rankings: Week of Reckoning

Written by Ben Slavin Another week, another tie. The most anticlimactic thing ever seen in sports. Outside of the tie, we had some great games, some blowouts, and many storyline developments. A clear top-5 in the league is developing as the next tier have struggled greatly for consistency and while many of them could still win the Super Bowl, they’ve raised serious concerns. After week 1, I tried not to overreact to a lot of the results since historically the week is full of anomalys. But if teams underperformed again, they will not get the same pass and tumble down the rankings. Similarly, if teams followed up a pleasantly surprising first week with another convincing performance, they will see that reflected in their rankings. Once again, now that we’re into the season, teams will move up or down a lot based on trades, injuries, or big wins or losses. Who the opponent was, how close of a game it was, and just in general how good the team looked will be considered more than just g
