The Washington Commanders rebrand may be over, but the rebuild is not

Courtesy of Rob Carr At long last, the Washington Football Team has unveiled their new identity. Behold, the Washington Commanders. The future of Washington football is here #TakeCommand pic.twitter.com/MwkCLTkVAA — Washington Commanders (@Commanders) February 2, 2022 The football club once known as the Washington Redskins has at last completed the development of a full rebrand for the 2022 season and beyond. Two summers ago, the franchise retired the original team name which stood for 87 years, and announced they would undergo a complete rebrand. The previous name was a long-standing point of discord, for its racial and disparaging connotations to Native Americans, and glorification of sustained genocide, dehumanization, and historical mistreatment of American Indians.  Owner Dan Snyder stood his ground for two decades about the original name and insisted the franchise would never change it. Snyder grew up as a fan of the team before buying the franchise in 1999, and glorified the tr

Resilient Raiders are back in the playoffs after a nightmare season

Courtesy of Tyge O'Donnell In true Raider fashion, their season came down to the bitter end, and they delivered. Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson nailed a 47-yard field goal attempt in overtime to knock off the Los Angeles Chargers, and send the Raiders back to the playoffs. It marks just the franchise's second playoff appearance since losing Super Bowl XXXVII following the 2002 season, and their first since 2016. They have a date with the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Wild Card.  From start to finish, the 2021 Raiders season was theatrically pulsating, with the team securing six walk-off wins, four overtime wins, and seven wins in one-possession games. But beyond the last-minute football dramatics, a soap opera of unending heartache and distress circulated the team all season long. Resiliency is an overused trait to describe the heart and mental fortitude of a team, but resiliency defined the Raiders journey back to the playoffs in one of the darkest seasons in the history of the

2021 Week 6 Predix: Cowboys Chasing a 5-1 Start

Courtesy of Alan Glanzman/Getty Images Written by Sam DeCoste We've reached a point in the regular season where we are closer to Halloween than we were to Week 1. The 2021 regular season is advancing at rapid fire pace, and the contenders and pretenders are starting to reveal themselves to us at last. And for the first time since 2019, the Jaguars are back where they belong, in London. Nature is truly healing.  While the Jets, Falcons, Saints, and 49ers take the first bye week of the season, Week 6 presents as entertaining a slate of games as any we've seen so far in 2021. The week kicks off with Bucs-Eagles on Thursday night, and continues with a matchup between a pair of 4-1 AFC squads, the Chargers and Ravens, a cross-conference showdown between the Cardinals and Browns, and with the Cowboys taking on the Patriots. Week 5 was my greatest week of the season to date, in which I accurately predicted 13 of 16 games. I have reached a 68.8 winning percentage thru 6 weeks, after a
